We loved our first taster of football this week with Jordan from Bradford Park Avenue. He’s going to come in and work with us on our Thursday PE too!

We loved experimenting with string painting this afternoon using our colour palette of yellow, red and orange. It was so messy and we loved getting our hands all paint-covered. We carefully laid the strings on our paper and then used another piece of paper to print the relief!

After all our work last half term with 1-5 it was time to introduce 0! We started by sorting different representations into 0 and not 0 and over the week have been talking more about composition of 0 and 5!

When we join school in Reception the first thing we need to establish is our prime areas which includes our social skills and making friends. As you can see… RTH are so good at this! We’re such a friendly bunch. We all love playing together and we’re very flexible about the areas! We are really good at resolving conflicts and most of the time we really do get on so well!

We’ve been exploring all things patterned this week in Reception Maths. From Yayoi Kusama’s pumpkins to some striped snakes and patterns with all sorts of objects in our input!

It’s been a busy week of Maths in Reception this week. We’ve really enjoyed applying our Maths input to all sorts of practical activities both indoors and outdoors. We’ve been measuring longer and shorter, taller and shorter, heavier and lighter and all manner of capacity measurements!

Today was our first day with our story teller heroes in Year 6. After our whole class story creation they came to work with us in little groups and invent our own stories!

Armed with our gloves and trowels we headed out into the gardens this morning to tackle some of the old growth and nettles. On our journey of discovery we encountered many wiggly worms and some potato jewels in the ground – what an exciting morning! Lots of filling plant pots and comparing the capacities. We persevered in getting the potatoes out of the ground and took turns to dig around them.

In the curiosity cube this week the children discovered some ‘shiny jewels’ from the forest floor.
Sehaj and Zachary had lots of questions and theories about where they had come from. Elsie was very insistent that the conkers had definitely been polished prior to being put in their cases!
